Peter Fanta is a Rear Admiral in the United States Navy. He is currently Commander, Expeditionary Strike Group Five.
Fanta is a native a Manitowoc, Wisconsin.[1] He holds an M.P.A. from Harvard University.
Fanta graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1983. He has served aboard the USS Rushmore (LSD-47), USS Falcon (MHC-59), USS John Paul Jones (DDG-53), USS Pegasus (PHM-1) and the USS Coontz (DDG-40). Other assignments have included serving as an executive assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Financial Management and Comptroller).
Awards he has received include the Legion of Merit with award star, the Defense Superior Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with award star and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two award stars.
